Get your Green Fix

6 Jun

Having spent a lot of time working in Bristol, London and Edinburgh recently I’ve noticed more than usual how, in comparison to other urban centres in the UK, the majority of city centre public spaces in Manchester are pretty much a failure for anyone to use without first having to buy into the space provided by some kind of commercial custodian – be it the retailers of the Arndale, the food outlets of Piccadilly Gardens or the ubiquitous corporate coffee shops that pepper the fringes of every square in the city.

However, it was good to see that the folks at the biodiversity unit of MCC are making a real effort to promote normal people using public spaces by launching their new promotional DVD, “Green Fix” on Thursday at the Manchester Museum, even if the void of green space within the boundaries of the Mancunian Way remains.  See more of their work to bring nature to the city at Wild About Manchester.

Big thanks to Dave for permission to post.
